How to Care for Your KOCF Carbon Fiber Parts
Thanks for choosing KOCF. Real carbon fiber is mostly handcrafted, and a little care goes a long way toward keeping it looking great for years.
Please read these care tips before your first wash.
Your KOCF carbon fiber piece comes with a UV-resistant clear coat, so you don't need to apply another coating as long as you properly maintain it. A ceramic coating is optional, but it can provide additional protection and help preserve the finish even longer.
🧼 WASHING
-
Wash with any gentle, non-acidic soap. If it's safe for your vehicle's paint, it's safe for your carbon fiber.
-
Do not use harsh or acidic cleaners.
-
Avoid washing your vehicle in direct sunlight.
-
Dry the carbon fiber immediately with a soft microfiber towel to help prevent scratches and water spots.
⚠️ NEVER LET WATER DRY ON CARBON FIBER
Carbon fiber can hold heat. When water sits on the surface in direct sunlight or humid conditions, it can heat up quickly.
This can lead to:
-
Hard water spots
-
Haze
-
White spots
-
Clear coat deterioration over time
Always wipe off standing water as soon as possible.
✨ WAXING
Wax your carbon fiber piece occasionally, just as you would your vehicle.
-
Use a non-acidic liquid wax.
-
Do NOT use paste wax.
Paste wax products can contain abrasives that may gradually wear down or strip the clear coat.
🛡️ PROTECTION & STORAGE
Limit Direct Sun Exposure
Park out of direct sunlight whenever possible. This helps your carbon fiber's UV-resistant clear coat last longer.
Be Careful With Car Covers
Some synthetic car covers can leave residue on the carbon fiber that may damage the clear coat.
If you use a car cover:
-
Check the carbon fiber every few days.
-
Remove any residue as soon as you notice it.
-
Make sure the cover is clean and suitable for your vehicle.
Long-Term Storage
If your vehicle will be sitting for an extended period, keep the carbon fiber pieces clean.
Dust, dirt, and debris left on the surface for long periods can damage the finish.
Salt & Winter Roads
If you've been driving on salted roads, wash your carbon fiber pieces afterward to remove salt and road contaminants.
⚠️ WHY PROPER CARE MATTERS
Improper care can lead to fading, discoloration, water spotting, or clear coat damage.
Damage caused by improper maintenance or exposure is not considered a product defect.
Following these simple steps will help keep your KOCF carbon fiber looking fresh and protected for years to come.
